Sticks (Trees)

My friend and poet Helen McCloskey writes in her poem "Without Which, What?" that a blade of grass asks nothing of an oak or the change of season, yet somehow, when humans get into the picture, we infuse every blade of grass with meaning. Trees are like that for me. They are not only intriguing and pleasing in themselves, but are also layered with meaning beyond the surface.
