Shell Study
Shells have been a recurrent theme in my photography and mixed media work for many years and continue to be a source of inspiration. There is something haunting about the intricate morphology of an empty shell, the subtleties of its coloration, and as Heather Davis wrote in her blog “Go Behind the Art” on www.urbannaturaldesigns.com, its reminder that what began as protection for a living organism, later washed ashore “as beautiful, captivating skeletal remains.”
